Weapons available in Fear the Wolves include a melee weapon, a large collection of guns, and various grenades. Characters do not start out with any weapons, or other gear for that matter. Instead, they are acquired in the field by finding them inside buildings and other structures, from airdrops, and from looting fallen characters.

Pistols[ | ]
Pistols are the easiest type of firearm to locate in the game, as one might be present in nearly any small building, usually with some of the correct ammunition and a single compatible mod. They are low damage firearms usually effective only at closer ranges.

Shotguns[ | ]
Shotguns are more difficult to find than pistols, but roughly as easy to find as submachine guns. They are most commonly inside buildings that have at least two stories. They are highly effective at very close ranges with the potential for easy single shot kills, but their effectiveness diminishes rapidly with increasing distance.

Roughly as easy to find as shotguns, submachine guns are also most commonly available inside buildings that have at least two stories. These weapons have high fire rates, but use pistol ammunition, and thus tend to be ineffective at longer ranges.

Assault rifles[ | ]
Assault rifles are usually difficult and risky to acquire, often limited to relatively unique or particularly large buildings. These weapons usually have high fire rates and are typically effective at medium to long ranges.

Sniper rifles seem to be the most difficult weapons to find, usually found only in the most unique structures. These are powerful firearms effective at very long ranges.

Grenades can be found inside most structures, though they tend to be rare than firearms, especially those that cause damage.
